State Series #1: Giovanni Reda | New York

Today we’re rolling out a new series in which we talk to one skater from each state in the Union (yes, all 50) to gather their five favorite skaters from their home state. Our State Series™ starts off the state in which VP is headquartered, New York. Since it’s New York we’re focused on this week, we were 100% we needed to talk to one guy in particular, someone who’s been around for basically everything that’s special about skateboarding in New York from the 1980s until now – Giovanni Reda.

Jeff Pang
Brooklyn’s best! He has style, pop and when he skated there was nothing else like it. To this day I still think he can ollie over one of those orange NYC garbage cans.

Keith Hufnagel
From Manhattan, Keith always skated fast and had unbelievably high ollies. He would cruise through the streets and destroy anything in his path. Actually, he’d more likely just go over it with ease and grace.

Tyshawn Jones
The boy from The Bronx. Effortless smooth style, NYC’s first Skater of the Year(!), strong style and amazing trick selection. I’d have to say he’s one of my favorite skaters overall.

Gino Iannucci
From Long Island. When you think of the bar for style, Gino is the bar. Gino’s push should be in the skateboarding hall of fame.

Keenan Milton
From uptown Manhattan, Keenan’s smooth style and approach to skateboarding made anyone who saw it be in awe of it. Always smiling and always having fun, Keenan embodied what it means to be a skateboarder.

There are so many more I should name, but there’s five.
