Shin Sanbongi’s Top Backside Noseblunts
We all have our preferences for which tricks look the best and skaters we prefer to see doing them. However, there comes along every so often someone who takes a trick and does something truly special with it . Someone who, through the unique way in which they do it, makes us look at an existing trick through new eyes. As far as backside noseblunts are concerned, Shin Sanbongi is that guy. See his especially magnificent example in Polar’s We Blew it at Some Point for proof. So many questions arise – How do you even do one from a vert wall into a lump of Play-Doh? Is it even technically a backside noseblunt (some say they hear truck scrapeage)? Does it even matter?
One more question comes to mind – what inspired that noseblunt? We talked to Shin about his favorite backside noseblunts of all time to learn about what’s in his head when he does them.
Kenny Anderson – 1st and Hope
"The first time I saw a backside noseblunt was Kenny Anderson in this video. I thought the trick looked so cool and immediately fell in love with it."
Oskar Rosenberg – Nike SB Orange Label
"To be able to exhibit this level of smoothness with a backside noseblunt in such a tight object like this boat is amazing."
Bobby Worrest - Especial
"One of my favourite video parts."
Dennis Busenitz – Since Day One
Mike Anderson – Not Another Transworld Video
"He’s got a great style that’s so nice to watch. This backside noseblunt is creative, quick, and he makes this one slide a long way."
Shane Cross – Pizzey Bowl Jam 2007
"I saw this one around the time I started skating and couldn’t believe how cool it was, and it’s still impressive to this day. Love his style."
